Terms
The short version: you pay once, CopyHaven is yours to use on your PC, and every update to version 1 is free.
Updated October 2026
Who we are
CopyHaven is made in Australia by Gavin Groom, trading as CopyHaven, ABN 16 355 165 630. Licences are sold for us by Paddle, who handle payment, tax, and invoices as the merchant of record. Paddle's terms for buyers apply to the purchase itself.
The free trial
You can use every feature free for 30 days. After that, backups pause until you enter a licence key. Restore and Check backup keep working whether you buy or not, so you can always get your files back.
Your licence
- A licence lets you use CopyHaven on one PC. The 3-PC licence lets you use it on up to three PCs, with the same key.
- It doesn't expire. You can move it to a new PC: remove it from the old one first, in the licence window.
- It's for you, your household, or your business. Please don't use your key on more PCs than it's for, or sell it on.
- You may not copy, change, or take apart CopyHaven, except as the law allows.
Updates
Every update to version 1 is free, for as long as you use it. When there's a version 2, upgrading will cost half the price of a new licence – and nothing if you bought in the year before it's released. Version 1 keeps working if you'd rather not upgrade.
Refunds
Within 30 days of buying, for any reason. See Refunds.
Your backups
CopyHaven is built and tested carefully to keep your files safe, and it never deletes or changes the files on your PC. But no backup protects against everything: a drive can fail, be lost, or be reached by ransomware while it's plugged in. Keep more than one copy of anything important – two drives used in turn, for example – and check now and then that you can restore your files.
Our responsibility
The Australian Consumer Law gives you guarantees that can't be excluded, and nothing in these terms takes them away. Beyond those guarantees, and as far as the law allows, CopyHaven is provided as it is, and our responsibility for any loss is limited to supplying the software again or refunding what you paid for it.
Changes, and the law
We may update these terms; the version on this page applies from the date at the top. These terms are governed by the law of South Australia, Australia.
